Regional Collaboration among Six New England States to Reduce STD-related Infertility
Welcome to the Region I Infertility Prevention Project Website!
The Region I Infertility Prevention Project (IPP) is coordinated by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), the Infertility Prevention Project infrastructure for the New England region. This website is intended to be a source of information about activities, research, guidelines, and projects for IPP partners and participants.
The Region I Infertility Prevention Project is part of the National Infertility Prevention Project, dedicated to promoting chlamydia and gonorrhea screening and treatment for sexually active women attending family planning, sexually transmitted disease (STD), and other women’s healthcare clinics. The project has found that routine screening of women can reduce the damaging consequences of untreated STD infection such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), ectopic pregnancy, and infertility.
State STD, family planning, and public health laboratories from Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont have joined together to form the Region I IPP Advisory Board, which works in collaboration with JSI to coordinate the project across the region.
